When undertaking a major endeavor always break it down into manageable pieces.  Think "Three Month Chunks."

Anything over 3 months is unruly and greatly decreases your chance of success.  "Three Month Chunks" can be tackled easily.

Cash in Hand

Al “Stankie” Stankiewicz is a top boxing coach who gets in the ring with some of the best MMA fighters in the world to train them.  He's on the current season of The Ultimate Fighter and if you have the chance to see him, you can tell he loves every second of his job.  (I doubt he even calls it a job!)

He lives by this motto:

“Yesterday is a canceled check.  Tomorrow is a promissory note.  It’s promissory; it may not happen. Today is cash in hand.”

Oh yeah, Stankie is 67 years old.  Amazing.  When I'm 67 I hope I'm as optimistic, as happy, and as crazy as Stankie.

As you can tell by my posts I'm all for reading, so don't take this post as reason to stop exploring new ideas. But I want to offer a word of caution.

As you're reading the latest self-help author be careful. Their job is to sell the next new thing and if you're not careful they could talk you right out of yours.

Love Yourself

We often focus on what we can do, ignoring what we've done.  High expectations are great but don't forget to acknowledge all you've accomplished thus far.  Take a little time to love yourself.

This is my 100th post on Strike the Match. I'll give myself some love for reaching that milestone!
