How You Do

The same job can be performed many ways.  

• A corporate buyer can take a relationship approach, a level of service approach, a cost approach, etc. to procuring products.
• A musician can take a contemporary approach, a classical approach, an alternative approach, etc. to performing a show.
• A consultant can take a quantitative approach, a qualitative approach, a hybrid approach, etc. to solving a problem.

If you're unhappy in your current job perhaps you should examine how you do it. A change of approach may uncover a new interest in your current position.

If Not Now, When?

You've heard the call to "take action" and you know the change you'd like to make but you're not convinced the time is right.  Instead of acting now you want to wait for more favorable conditions.

Waiting for more favorable conditions is often another excuse to stay stuck.  A great way to test if you're making excuses is to write down when the time will be right.

If you can clearly document your criteria you may have a case.  But, make sure it's realistic to assume your criteria are going to occur sometime in the near future.  After all, the point is to take action.
